Rače, June 6, 2014
Dear Christine,
thanks for your e-mail. I am so excited to see you in August in Slovenia.
As you know I live in Rače. It lies in the north-eastern part of Slovenia, under the eastern Pohorje Hills. Here you can find nice and friendly people. Every Saturday one can go to the market organized at the local castle. Here you can buy some local food, for example cherries, strawberries in the spring, grapes, apples, pears, lettuce, and tomatoes in the summer or autumn time, but also local wine, cheese, pumpkin seed oil; and much, much more. Some women even offer their local pastry, for example apple strudel, pumpkin strudel, cheery pie ...
It is also a nice place to relax and to visit some sights. If you like nature then we can visit our landscape park with a lot of fishponds, a big collection of water plants and interesting animals, like birds (storks), dragonflies, frogs. We can make a trip on foot or by bike.
I also recommend seeing a castle. It was built in the 16th century and was originally surrounded by a moat (filled with water). After the Second World War nobody took care of the castle. But in the last 30 years the castle has been renovated and now it is a popular location for weddings. Christine, you are welcome to get married here (some day of course)!
I am really looking forward to meeting you here in Rače!
All the best,
Zoja
