You can hear it on every corner that planning kills spontaneity, and that the worst thing you can do is to be predictable. In other words, you should {go with the flow;to go with the flow = (idiom) to do what other people are doing or to agree with other people because it is the easiest thing to do}. It’s similar when it comes to travelling. Try tearing up the meticulous itinerary you’ve been working on for months and embrace spontaneity. It’s OK to have a rough framework of your journey, but don’t cling to it {at all costs;at all costs (at any cost) = (phrase) regardless of the effort needed}. Sometimes you should act on a whim because the most memorable experiences are the ones you’ve never envisioned.
Flexibility is the most obvious strong point of spontaneous travel. Dare to linger in a place that dazzled you, and for once stop thinking about what time it is. Rushing from place to place won’t make your getaway classy, but merely crammed with unwanted nervousness and haste. Plus, it can leave you with the feeling of disappointment if you don’t manage to make a tick over everything you’ve planned to see and do.
Everything has its drawbacks and it’s no different with unpremeditated travel. You must be ready to deal with unexpected problems like sorting out transportation or accommodation issues and finally, let’s not forget the extra cost you might face because pre-booked flights, tickes or rooms are often cheaper than last-minute purchases.
True, people are creatures of habit, but it doesn’t kill you to step out of your comfort zone. {Take a chance on;take a chance on = (phrase) put your trust in something knowing it may not be certain or safe} travelling without a plan. But whatever way you choose to globe-trot, don’t forget to have a blast.
